Dracaena: The Plant That Cleans the Air While We Sleep
Dracaena: The Plant That Cleans the Air While We Sleep
I recently read about this very strange thing, at least to me….
Have you heard of the Snake plant? It's now called Dracaena, and NASA says it’s a great air purifier! Apparently, this plant can remove harmful chemicals like benzene, formaldehyde, and others found in things we use every day. Just by having it around, the air in your home becomes cleaner.
One cool thing about Dracaena is how tough it is. It can survive in dry conditions because of a special process called Crassulacean Acid Metabolism. This helps it exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide in a way that saves water. It has tiny pores on its leaves, called stomata, that only open at night to stop water from escaping during the hot day.
What makes this plant extra special is that it absorbs carbon dioxide and produces oxygen at night, which is the opposite of most plants. That makes it perfect for bedrooms since it cleans the air while we sleep.
Having a Dracaena in your home might be a great way to get cleaner air and a healthier space. 🌹🔥🔥
