Letting Go of Ego and Living Simply for Financial Freedom

Letting Go of Ego and Live Simply for Financial Freedom

Today, many people, especially Christian business owners and professionals, dream of being financially free and independent. But to reach this goal, we have to make some big changes and sacrifices. Today I want to talk about why it’s important to let go of our ego and live on less so we can take charge of our lives and time.

The Tale of Two Philosophers

Let me tell you a story about two ancient philosophers:

This story, to me, shows how powerful it is to live simply and rely on ourselves.

Challenges for Christian Business Owners

Christian business owners often face special challenges. Sometimes, their bosses act like kings, controlling their lives because we rely on them financially. I cannot stress to you how important it is to learn to live on less so we don’t have to depend on anyone else. By cutting out unnecessary bills and expenses, we can take back control and make choices that match our values.

The Problem with Status Symbols

Things like expensive cars, big houses, and fancy jobs might look good to others, but they come with hidden problems. These can include stress, losing control of our time, and not being able to focus on the work God wants us to do. In the video, I shared personal stories about realizing that many of these expenses weren’t really needed and were just about trying to impress others. We can become addicted to others approval and validation. We would think that is a function of lack of self esteem, but even that stems from ego. It’s such a tricky thing to balance.

Advice for Young Christians

For young Christians, I offer some advice: stay away from debt and spending money on things you don’t really need. Instead, put your money into investments, businesses, or even insurance vehicles that will help you in the long run. Learning to wait for what you want and living on less can help you build a strong foundation for financial freedom in the future. You may even need to not have any babies, until your money has babies (interest and profits) lol.

Conclusion

Letting go of ego and living on less are crucial steps to reaching financial freedom and independence. By choosing not to spend money on things we don’t need or to impress others, Christian business owners and professionals can take control of their lives and follow God’s calling. This journey isn’t always easy, but the benefits are definitely worth it.
