Why you MUST get in Management or Ownership!!

Why Christians becoming successful is so important to the world

Have you ever had an un-righteous boss or leader? Like, the kind that drives you to the therapists office on the regular? You like your job, your profession, it’s just….the way they do things, drive you…ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!!

I stumbled upon this scripture the other day, as I don’t remember ever reading it prior.

"When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice, when the wicked are in authority, the people groan."

Proverbs 29:2

Insights on Proverbs 29:2 in Professional and Business Ownership Lives

I think this verse tells us the importance of righteous leadership and its impact on the community, both our community partners and our business partners or co-workers. In our professional environments, this can be interpreted as the need for ethical and moral leadership. I believe the ethical and moral leadership creates an environment of stability and prosperity. When business owners and leaders act with integrity and righteousness, it creates a positive work environment, thus assisting the company (and by extension the world) to having better mental health. Employees feel valued and respected, leading to higher morale and productivity. This principle, to me, encourages leaders to prioritize ethical decision-making and to foster a culture of honesty and transparency.

In the context of business ownership, the verse underscores the responsibility that comes with leadership. A business owner who leads with righteousness not only benefits their employees but also the broader community. Ethical business practices can lead to sustainable growth and a positive reputation, which in turn attracts more customers and clients. Problem is, a lot of businesses and business owners claim to be ethical, but they will cut corners at the drop of a hat, if it will save them money or time. (Watch nearly any episode of Kitchen Nightmares for just one example). Integral leadership creates a virtuous cycle where the success of the business contributes to the well-being of the community, and the community's support further enhances the business's success. It reminds business owners that their actions have far-reaching consequences and that they should strive to be a force for good.

Also, I think, the verse serves as a cautionary note against unethical leadership. When leaders act wickedly, it leads to dissatisfaction and unrest among the people. In a business context, this can manifest as high employee turnover, low morale, and a tarnished reputation. It highlights the importance of self-reflection and accountability in leadership roles. Business owners and leaders are encouraged to regularly assess their actions and decisions to ensure they align with ethical principles. By doing so, they can avoid the pitfalls of wicked leadership and create a thriving, harmonious work environment.

With all that said, I think this is why it is important for believers, and I mean REAL believers, who actually live the faith, to become the leaders in commerce and other areas when possible. It’s better for everyone when we are.

BUT I’M NOT THE LEADER!!!

This is the hard part. Many of us aren’t the head person in charge, but rather have to submit to the one that is. And we have no control over whether they are righteous or not. What do we do then?

Guidance for Christians Under Unrighteous Rulers

  • - Pray for the Ruler: Lift up the leader in prayer, asking God to guide them towards righteousness and justice.

  • - Stay Faithful: Continue to live according to Christian principles, even when it is challenging.

  • - Seek Community Support: Engage with your church community for mutual support and encouragement.

  • - Advocate for Justice: When possible, peacefully advocate for policies and actions that align with Christian values.

  • - Practice Patience: Trust in God's timing and remain patient, knowing that He is ultimately in control.

  • - Say the Jesus Prayer: "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner." This can help mitigate anxiety and bring peace.

Remember, while it can be disheartening to live under unrighteous rule, maintaining your faith and integrity is crucial. Lean on your faith community, stay grounded in prayer, and trust that God sees and knows your struggles. By doing so, you can find peace and strength to endure challenging times.

1 Corinthians 10:13. "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."
