Lessons learned from Hurricane Helene: One mans introspection

In partnership with

This one will be quick….

A friend of mine spent 2 weeks without power at his home after hurricane Helene hit his area.

He was mindful enough to list several contemplations on social media during that time. I share them below:

1) I'm walking because consistency is key. I refuse to be an emotional eater and gain all my weight back.

2) Don't let intrusive thoughts win.

3) it's ok not to be ok.

4) Find a reason to be grateful and to laugh every day

5) Celebrate the small things. 6)Things can be replaced but people can't be.

7) I'm amazed how my creative juices are flowing when I'm not distracted. I've come up with two new books and several sermons.

8) We're without electricity but we're not without power (insert praise break 😂)

The one that stood out to me, is number 7. The lack of distractions I have found (when on a plane), is amazing! It is like being endued with super powers to think at a level greater than normal. Yes at times I “raw dawg” a flight. I just sit and think. No movie, no magazine, not conversation. Just sit, think, and plan.

Which one stood out or connected most with you?
