How to Find Peace in the Midst of Post Christmas Anxiety
I saw this article by In Search of New Eden, and thought I would paraphrase it on our blog below, but from the perspective of how it can help Christian Professionals, but be sure to read this magnificent post here: https://newedenministry.com/2024/12/22/image-of-an-image/
Finding Peace in the Incarnation: A Reflection for Christian Professionals
The Christmas season has arrived, and with it comes the celebration of a profound mystery: the Word made flesh. As the festivities begin to wind down, the truths of the Incarnation continue to offer solace and relief, especially for Christian professionals balancing the demands of work and faith.
The Incarnation: Unity in Creation
John Scotus Eriugena described all creation as a theophany, or a manifestation of the divine. This perspective invites us to see the world as infused with God’s presence. God is not distant but intimately present within creation. The world exists inside God, and every aspect of creation reflects His essence.
When post-holiday anxieties or the pressures of returning to daily routines weigh heavily, remember this: you are not isolated. You are part of a creation held together by Christ Himself. As Paul writes in Colossians, Christ is the image of the invisible God, in whom all things are created and sustained. This unity assures us that we are never alone but always embraced by His love.
Christ’s Two Natures: A Model for Wholeness
Christ’s two natures—fully God and fully man—reveal the possibility of wholeness even in the midst of life’s complexity. His human nature encompasses all creation, while His divine nature reveals the mystery of God. Together, they unite the spiritual and physical realms perfectly.
As professionals, it’s easy to feel pulled in many directions: career demands, family obligations, and spiritual commitments. The Incarnation reminds us that these aspects of life are not competing forces but can be harmonized in Christ. By entrusting our worries to Him, we allow His peace to settle our hearts and bring clarity to our purpose.

The Soul’s Embrace: A Source of Stability
The body exists within the soul, just as creation exists within Christ. This understanding invites us to view life not as fragmented pieces but as a cohesive whole, held together by God’s presence.
When stress begins to creep in, take a moment for prayerful contemplation. Picture your body held tenderly within your soul, and your soul embraced by God. This imagery can bring comfort, grounding you in the truth that your stability and strength come from being rooted in Christ.
God With Us: A Daily Reality
The name Immanuel—“God with us”—is not only a celebration of Christmas Day but a truth for every day. Your existence reflects God’s creative love, and your life, with all its joys and challenges, is an opportunity to manifest His presence in the world.
Practical Steps for Anxiety Relief
Pause and Reflect: Carve out a few moments each day to consider the unity of creation in Christ. Breathe deeply, remembering you are held in His love.
Focus on Presence: During moments of stress, remind yourself of Immanuel—God with you. Invite His peace into your heart and mind.
Practice Gratitude: Reflect on the ways God’s presence has sustained you, even during challenges. Gratitude helps shift focus from worry to trust.
Lean Into Community: Seek support and encouragement from fellow believers who share in the joy of Christ’s birth and ongoing presence.
A Reflection for the Week After Christmas
As the glow of Christmas morning fades into the week ahead, hold onto the mystery of the Incarnation. Reflect on Christ’s birth and the miracle of your own life as a reflection of His image. Let the truth of “God with us” bring calm to your soul and steady your heart as you step into the new year.
In the midst of post-holiday busyness and responsibilities, may the Incarnation remind you of your divine purpose and the ever-present embrace of God, who holds all things together—including you.
