How Jesus Teaches Christian Professionals to Manage Our Time

How Jesus Teaches Us to Manage Our Time

Did you know that Jesus' life can teach us how to handle our busy schedules? Jordan Raynor, in his book Redeeming Your Time, shows how Jesus balanced work, rest, and relationships perfectly. Here’s a simple framework based on the book, using Jesus’ example that can help you manage your time wisely:

1. Start Your Day with God

- Jesus began His mornings praying and talking to God (Mark 1:35).

- Spend time reading the Bible and praying to set the tone for your day.

2. Keep Your Promises

- Jesus always did what He said He would do (Matthew 5:37).

- Only say “yes” to things you can follow through on, and don’t be afraid to say “no” when needed.

3. Take Time to Be Quiet

- Jesus often went away from the crowds to pray and think (Luke 5:16).

- Turn off distractions like your phone or TV for some quiet time to focus.

4. Know What’s Most Important

- Jesus stayed focused on His mission, even when others wanted Him to do something else (Luke 4:42-44).

- Write down your top priorities and work on those before anything else.

5. Be Fully Present

- Jesus focused on one thing at a time, giving His full attention to people and tasks (John 11:1-6).

- Don’t try to multitask. Pay attention to what’s right in front of you.

6. Make Time to Rest

- Jesus rested and celebrated the Sabbath (Mark 2:27).

- Schedule breaks, get enough sleep, and set aside one day a week to rest and recharge.

7. Don’t Rush Through Life

- Jesus was never in a hurry, even when things seemed urgent (John 11:5-6).

- Leave space in your schedule for unexpected events and avoid overloading yourself.

By following these steps, you can use your time in a way that honors God, helps others, and keeps you from feeling overwhelmed. Life isn’t just about doing more; it’s about doing what matters most.
