Five easy "ego-boost" hacks you can use to be proud of yourself (without judging others)

The Importance of Self-Esteem

Self-esteem plays a crucial role in shaping our overall well-being and happiness. When we have a healthy level of self-esteem, we are more likely to approach life's challenges with confidence and resilience. This positive self-view not only enhances our mental health but also improves our relationships, as we are more open to giving and receiving love and support.

Moreover, self-esteem influences our decision-making and goal-setting processes. With a strong sense of self-worth, we are more inclined to pursue opportunities and take risks that align with our true desires and values. Ultimately, nurturing self-esteem empowers us to live authentically and achieve personal fulfillment, making it an essential component of a balanced and satisfying life.

It's hard for Christian Professionals to get a healthy self esteem because on the one hand, our faith dictates we be humble and seek. While on the other hand, our professions need us to be confident in our abilities to handle a task.

One way i think to achieve this balance is to measure yourself, against yourself.

In 1 Corinthians 11:28-31, Paul tells us the importance of self-examination before participating in the Lord's Supper. He advises believers to judge themselves to avoid being judged by the Lord. This introspection is crucial for maintaining a sincere and humble heart, ensuring that one's actions align with their faith. By examining themselves, believers can recognize their shortcomings and seek forgiveness, fostering a deeper relationship with God. In other words, self examination is THE KEY to spiritual progress.

We can also apply this principal to our personal lives. Self examination is the key to progress in life. Measure yourself against your former self (in the past days, weeks, months, and years), and celebrate those improvements. You don't have to measure yourself against others, put them down, or feel superior, in order to have good healthy self esteem.

Here's some quick easy ways to do that:

  1. Exercise Session - when you exercise, keep increasing your weight or reps. And track this so that you can measure your progress.

  2. Finish a book (or just a chapter) - Write down what and how many books you read, and compare it to yourself over time.

  3. Meet up with a relative or friend you haven't seen in a while. - This will make you feel like a good family member or relative.

  4. Cook and Eat a healthy meal - Eating a healthy meal will produce good chemicals in the body, and in turn, you'll feel good and you'll be proud that you actually ate healthy. Cooking it yourself is an added bonus way of fueling healthy self esteem.

  5. Clean up - We often make plans like “I'm going to clean up the house today.” Chances are you are not going to be able to do the whole house in one Saturday. You will then also be down on yourself and sulk that you couldn't finish. Rather. Clean up one room. Clean up your desk. Clean up your computer files. Maybe clean up or organize/delete the photos on your phone.
