Christian vs. Secular Meditation
THIS will change the way you think about meditation...

Christian vs. Secular Meditation
Most people today hear “meditation” and think about emptying the mind. Christian meditation is different. It isn’t about silence for its own sake — it’s about filling the mind with God’s truth. Psalm 1:2 says, “His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.”
Secular meditation often focuses on self-awareness or relaxation. Christian meditation directs the mind toward Scripture so that thoughts are reshaped and hearts are renewed.
What Science Shows
Research on meditation demonstrates that intentional focus lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, and calms the nervous system. When the focus is Scripture, the benefits deepen. Neuroscientists call it directed neuroplasticity — the brain rewires itself around what you think about most. By fixing attention on God’s Word, you strengthen pathways of peace and hope.
A Simple Practice Using Philippians 4:8
Find a quiet space.
Read the verse slowly:
“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable… think about these things.”Breathe in gently as you reflect on each word.
Picture God planting these truths deep into your heart.
Why It Matters
Christian meditation doesn’t take you out of the world. It prepares you to face it with clarity, peace, and strength. By filling your mind with God’s Word, you carry His presence into every meeting, task, and challenge.
